Savvy Spinach Smoothie

Honestly, I’m a sucker for green. Lime green to be exact. Ever since I can remember lime green was my jam. Funny enough I didn’t voluntarily eat anything green until I was in my early-mid twenties. I had the biggest sweet tooth and it took me some time and some wake up calls to morph into the health conscious human that I am today. Now I begin every day with a smoothie and this combo is one of my favorites. Something about pineapple that just makes me feel good. This smoothie is delicious and you would never know it was mostly spinach. So for anyone who can’t quite stomach a full on green flavor, this ones for you!

This smoothie covers your greens, your fruits, and it also has some protein with the cashews. Manuka honey in itself has some pretty amazing benefits (Check some out here). Last but not least I am such a believer in pineapple for a myriad of reasons, but maybe we’ll leave that to a full on post of it’s own. ENJOY!

INGREDIENTS

Serving Size: 2.5-3 (16 OZ.) Smoothies

  • 1 FROZEN BANANA

  • 2 C. FROZEN PINEAPPLE

  • 1.5 C. FRESH BABY SPINACH

  • 1 C. RAW SALTED CASHEWS

  • 1 HEAPING TSP. MANUKA HONEY

  • JUICE OF 1/2 LIME

  • 1.5 C. OAT MILK (Oat has a thick sweet constitution but other non-dairy milks will work as well)

  • 1/2 C. WATER

*** I ALWAYS USE ORGANIC INGREDIENTS.  OF COURSE I UNDERSTAND IF THIS IS NOT FEASIBLE FOR YOUR BUDGET, BUT BUYING ORGANIC WHEN YOU CAN IS ALWAYS PREFERRED FOR HIGH AMOUNTS OF MAGIC.

RECIPE

  1. I’VE RECENTLY STARTED USING MY VITAMIX INSTEAD OF NUTRIBULLET. FOR THIS RECIPE IN PARTICULAR I RECOMMEND A HIGHER POWERED BLENDER DUE TO THE NATURE OF THE RAW CASHEWS AND THE TEXTURE YOU’LL WANT. I RECKON A NUTRIBULLET COULD ALSO WORK IT MAY JUST NOT BE AS SMOOTH. SO IF YOU’RE FEELING LUCKY….YOU DO YOU.

  2. OKAY LETS GET TO IT. PUT ALL INGREDIENTS IN YOUR BLENDER OF CHOICE AND BLEND UNTIL COMBINED. **FOR A THINNER CONSISTENCY ADD MORE LIQUID. THIS WILL ALSO GIVE YOU MORE SMOOTHIE. IF YOU LIKE IT THICK, DON’T ADD ANY EXTRA.

  3. SIP IN THE WEE HOURS OF THE MORNING. LISTEN TO THE SNOW GENTLY FALL OR THE BIRDS CHIRPING. FEEL THE HEALTH ENTERING YOUR BODY. AH, YES, HEALTH IS INDEED WEALTH.
