Blue Majik Smoothie Bowl

Ah, Blue Majik. I have seen you for months if not years beautifully coloring my Instagram feed and Pinterest boards. I’ve wanted to experiment with you for so long and now the time has finally come. Let me tell you, you did not disappoint! Not only was this smoothie tell your friends delicious but Blue Majik is packed with tons of nutrients and healing properties.

First off, what is this Magical Blue Majik? To much magic? My bad I’ll reign it in. According to their site it is a chemical free extract from Spirulina which is basically a really healthy algae. WHAT algae?! So WHY would one want to ingest algae you ask? So glad this came up. Research suggests that this particular “algae” contains an antioxidant called phycocyanin which helps to support healthy joints and flexibility by supporting healthy inflammation responses after exercise and in general. There are also claims it helps with energy levels & vitality not to mention its good for the digestive system as well. The most research has been done around phycocyanins inhibition of oxidative stress which reduces all types of free radicals. Free radicals are believed to cause most degenerative diseases. The last and one of the most interesting benefits to me is phycocyanins possible contribution to anti-hyperalgesic activity. In other words possibly decreasing your sensitivity to pain, perhaps directly related to it’s anti inflammatory properties. As a person who likes to move their body ALOT anything that claims to help inflammation is worth a try in my book and always good to have on hand in case of injury.

This smoothie of course contains many other yummy components such as pineapples, peaches and bananas along with whatever your heart desires as toppings! Check out the recipe below and lets sip on some algae together.

INGREDIENTS

Serving Size (1 overflowing bowl)

  • 1/2 FROZEN BANANA

  • HANDFUL OF FROZEN PINEAPPLE (ABOUT 1/2 CUP)

  • HANDFUL FROZEN PEACHES (ABOUT 1/2 CUP)

  • HANDFUL BABY SPINACH (EYEBALL THIS DEPENDING ON HOW MUCH YOU LIKE)

  • 1/4 TSP. GROUND VANILLA ( I use Lafaza From Whole Foods Market. If this is to pricey you can substitute vanilla extract or vanilla flavoring. I choose the powder because it is free from alcohol and “natural flavorings”)

  • 2-3 SCOOPS BLUE MAJIK POWDER, E3 LIVE is THE brand; they care about the product and have amazing customer service! (It comes with a mini scoop in the bottle, use more for a deeper color)

  • 1 TBS. UDOs 3/6/9/ Oil (Optional but healthy)

  • 1.5 CUP UNSWEETENED MACADAMIA MILK (Macadamia Nut Milk, I use Milkadamia You can sub this for any non dairy milk, I just really like how Macadamia Milk is lightly sweet and flavorless, however improvising & creativity is always encouraged here)

*** I ALWAYS USE ORGANIC INGREDIENTS.  OF COURSE I UNDERSTAND IF THIS IS NOT FEASIBLE FOR YOUR BUDGET, BUT BUYING ORGANIC WHEN YOU CAN IS ALWAYS PREFERRED FOR HIGH AMOUNTS OF MAGIC. There she goes again…

RECIPE

  1. PUT THE FROZEN FRUIT & BABY SPINACH IN BLENDER.

  2. FILL WITH MACADAMIA OR NON DAIRY MILK OF CHOICE.

  3. ADD IN THE REST OF YOUR INGREDIENTS (I DO THIS BECAUSE THE POWDERS CAN SOMETIMES GET STUCK AT THE BOTTOM OR TOP OF THE BLENDER IF THE LIQUID ISN’T PUT IN FIRST…TRADE SECRETS)

  4. BLEND. SHOULD BE THICK. POUR INTO A BOWL AND TOP WITH ANY FRUIT/ GRANOLA YOU LIKE. I USED DRAGONFRUIT, KIWI & BLUEBERRY FOR MINE BUT GO CRAZY MAKE YOUR SMOOTHIE A RADIANT MASTERPIECE. Also option to just drink it without putting it in a bowl for those on-the-go.

  5. ENJOY AT THE RISK OF EVERYONE BEING JEALOUS OF YOUR INSANELY GORGEOUS AND HEALTH FILLED BREAKFAST. MAYBE SNAP A FEW PICS. MAYBE A SMOOTHIE BOWL SELFIE. BASK IN THE FACT THAT YOU JUST CREATED A WORK OF OUTSTANDING ARTISTRY.
