Vanilla Pear Chai Festive Holiday Smoothie Bowl

Festive Holiday Smoothie Bowl

HAPPY HOLIDAYS ALL!

Well, almost holidays. Close enough to share this merry concoction with you guys, fa la la la la ya feel me? I have been wanting to utilize Chai in a smoothie bowl for so long. I always associate Chai with the wintertime because a Chai Tea Latte just hits the spot when the snow is falling and I’m trying to get cozy. SO I thought why not a Chai Smoothie Bowl?

This bowl is packed full of super fun ingredients that mingle with one another beneath the mistletoe creating the most festive and tasty breakfast treat.

We’ve got fan favorites like coconut milk, dates and my main smoothie buddy the frozen banana. BUT what makes this smoothie different is the use of frozen pears. The pears give such a subtle sweetness that blends ever so delicately with the chai spices.

Now not only is chai tasty but there are a number of health benefits this powdered spice packs in. Chai includes clove, ginger and cinnamon which all are known to have anti-inflammatory benefits. Along with the ibuprofen-like benefits, chai spice contains ginger which can also help to soothe nausea and black pepper which will help to aid your digestion. So if you’ve caught a bug this winter this chai smoothie bowl could be a go-to recipe for you and your loved ones. If you’d like to read up on all the benefits of chai you can check out this article from Dr. Axe that really lays them all out.

So folks, grab your blender and let’s get festive.

RECIPE BELOW

HOLIDAY SMOOTHIE BOWL

INGREDIENTS

Serving Size (1 overflowing bowl)

  • 1/2 FROZEN BANANA

  • 1.5 CUP FROZEN PEARS

  • 2 DATES (PITTED)

  • 1 TSP GRANOLA BUTTER (Granola Butter? What’s this you say? This stuff is deeeeelicious, Gluten Free and Nut Free. If you don’t have access to this you can omit it and the smoothie will still be great. You can also sub for Cashew butter but I would avoid almond because it may overpower the subtle flavors of pear).

  • 2.5 SCOOPS OF POWDERED CHAI (You are welcome to add more if you really want to Chai it up).

  • 1 TSP. GROUND VANILLA ( I use Lafaza From Whole Foods Market. If this is to pricey you can substitute vanilla extract or vanilla flavoring. I choose the powder because it is free from alcohol and “natural flavorings”)

  • 1 CUP VANILLA COCONUT MILK (You can use any brand of this, I like to steer clear of any brands containing carrageenan. You could probably sub for any regular non-dairy milk as well, I chose vanilla to up the vanilla flavor here).

*** I ALWAYS USE ORGANIC INGREDIENTS.  OF COURSE I UNDERSTAND IF THIS IS NOT FEASIBLE FOR YOUR BUDGET, BUT BUYING ORGANIC WHEN YOU CAN IS ALWAYS PREFERRED FOR HIGH AMOUNTS OF MAGIC.

RECIPE

  1. PLACE FROZEN INGREDIENTS IN BLENDER.

  2. FILL WITH VANILLA COCONUT MILK.

  3. ADD IN THE REST OF YOUR INGREDIENTS (I DO THIS BECAUSE THE POWDERS CAN SOMETIMES GET STUCK AT THE BOTTOM OR TOP OF THE BLENDER IF THE LIQUID ISN’T PUT IN FIRST…TRADE SECRETS)

  4. BLEND. SHOULD BE THICK. POUR INTO A BOWL AND TOP WITH ANY EXTRA FESTIVE FRUIT/ GRANOLA YOU LIKE. I USED STRAWBERRY, RASPBERRY, KIWI, CRANBERRIES, COCONUT FLAKES AND HEALING HOME FOODS GRANOLA (ITS AMAZING). Also option to just drink it without toppings or putting it in a bowl for those on-the-go.

  5. ENJOY AT THE EDGE OF A ROARING FIREPLACE. SLIP INTO YOUR MATCHING ROBE AND SLIPPERS. WRAP YOURSELF IN CHRISTMAS LIGHTS AND ENJOY THE DELICIOUSNESS THAT IS VANILLA PEAR CHAI.
