Friends, I have gathered you here today, on my blog. Ok well you kind of gathered yourself here, AND I AM HAPPY YOU DID…but this is not the point. We are here today to talk about our health and a very special and SIMPLE way to keep it, cultivate it and honor it.
The flexible morning routine
Whether you are a morning person or not, we can’t deny the time right after waking up is special. A time we can use to become our very best and most vibrant selves. How we begin our day has a cascading effect. If we begin our day by hitting snooze 10 times, waking up in a panic that we are late, skip breakfast and rush out the door, this will most likely translate into being angry that cars in front of you are going slow on the way to work, snapping at a co worker, or negative self talk about wanting to have done better or disliking your circumstances. However, on the flip side, if we begin our day with intention, no matter how simple or small, this also cascades into more patience, more flow, more hopefulness and often a reason to be proud of yourself.
Sometimes the thought of a morning routine makes people shudder. It brings up ideas of rising extra early, running 7 miles, reading 30 pages of a book and hitting the gym. We’ve all seen the intense morning routines touted by very successful men and women and maybe they resonate with you and work wonders but more likely than not they sometimes seem overwhelming. Sometimes I feel tried before trying them LOL. Trying to add so many intense changes into your life at once can sometimes set us up for failure instead of success. We may succeed for a short amount of time but since the changes were drastic and inflexible we fall back into old habits.
I much prefer the approach of flow and flexibility. Think, slow morning on vacation; waking up to tea or the ocean waves, taking that beautiful PAUSE before deciding what you want to do that day. This is the type of morning routine I am here for. I have found its important for me to have some type of structure in the mornings, otherwise I feel out in the ozone, but every day is different. Having a morning routine that fits my needs is IMPORTANT. Flexible morning routines have been a game changer! Having a flexible morning routine helps me curate that peace and clarity I find when on vacation, everyday.

Try new but simple things
Start with one mindfulness activity or one movement session
Perhaps you start with a nourishing breakfast
Start simple, start slow, start by adding “good” instead of trying to subtract “bad”
Pay attention to how you feel after each activity and if you crave doing it again
