Today’s post is a LONG TIME coming. I have been stalking the Sakara Life brand for YEARS. When I say years I mean…years, probably since they made their online debut around 2013. Sakara has the most beautiful instagram aesthetic and their food always looks SO PRETTY. Everything Sakara Life posts looks mouth watering, healthy and nourishing. Sakara life is a plant based meal delivery service and Sakara Life has the mission of viewing food as medicine, which is not only the premise for the Biodynamic® food company I began with my mom right out of college but also the basis for my E-Book Morning Magic, an intuitive guide to a more radiant you! So I’d say Sakara Life and Jess Rockwell are quite aligned! I believe what we eat can be medicine or poison and we get to make that choice every day! The main reason I never gave Sakara Life a go was because in 2013 I was a college student and the prices for their meal delivery were too high for me.

Fast Forward many years later it was a dream come true when Sakara reached out to me personally to be an ambassador! NOW, I don’t share things lightly on my blog and I want to make sure I absolutely love everything I share. So before hopping full in I knew I needed to give the Sakara Life a college try years later…haha. As you can imagine it went well because I would never share something that didn’t! This blog post is an honest review of Sakara Life and their 5 day signature meal plan. I will go over the big questions: Does sakara life taste good? Is sakara life worth the cost? What are the pros & cons of sakara life and more!

This post will be an honest review of my entire 5 day experience with Sakara Life Meals. Including photos of each meal, a description of each meal, how tasty it was and how I felt during and after! Let’s get to it! How does Sakara Life Work?

Sakara life’s Signature Meal Plan has a rotating plant based meal plan each week! I love this because the meals are always something different and seasonal aka ZERO food boredom! They also offer a Level II Detox, 10 Day Reset & a Bridal Program. The Signature meal plan is what I felt called to try first!

HERE ARE THE DETAILS:

  • You can choose from 2 day, 3 day or 5 day meal plans.

  • You can choose the full day of meals (breakfast, lunch & dinner) OR just breakfast, just lunch, just dinner OR any combination of breakfast lunch and dinner you want for the duration you choose! I LOVE this option because I love my Morning Smoothies and it is very hard for me to break up with them. So going forward I would be able to just order 5 days of dinners or lunches and still keep my morning routine intact! Or on a busier week I could go all in with 3 meals!

  • You have the option to add on snacks for energy, anti-inflammatory or adaptogenic purposes!

  • If you decide to subscribe for a few weeks instead of just a one time purchase you have more customizable options with each meal plan depending on the week!

  • The meals get delivered between 12AM & 6AM on the day you are set to start. Mine always arrived right on time around Midnight/EST. If you order the full week of meals you get one delivery Monday and a second delivery Thursday so the final meals don’t sit in the fridge taking up space and they are more fresh this way too!

  • The meals are packaged with a label of what’s inside, the ingredients and what day/time they are supposed to be eaten. Everything is stackable so they fit right into the fridge. Sakara also sends you an insulated lunch bag in case you need to take a few meals on the go to work or out and about! I also received some of their energy and metabolism bars along with probiotics and tea!

Sakara Life 5 Day Meal Plan: What I Ate For a Week!

DAY ONE

Breakfast

Pumpkin Pie Parfait

Started the week off with a coconut yogurt parfait! This had FALL vibes written all over it. Raspberries, layered with coconut yogurt, pumpkin puree & a fruit/nut mix. This was quite delicious and filling. I enjoy a lighter breakfast so this fit the bill!

Lunch

Middle Eastern Bowl w. Preserved Lemon Hummus

Lunch was SO GOOD. I don’t know what sakara does to make their salad dressings phenomenal but whatever it is they are getting it right! This was a bed of greens topped with hummus and millet along with other veggies. VERRRY filling and tasty!

Dinner

Sichuan Noodles

Oh man, this was delicious; I don’t have anything to compare this too because it was very unique. The giant beans in this dish are delicious and the flavors really shine.

 

DAY TWO

When I woke up I did not feel hungry at all which was great!

Breakfast

Yoga Bunny Breakfast w/ Carrot Coconut Butter

LOVED this breakfast. The kiwi was extremely fresh and the muffin was not only filling but flavorful. It had a gentle sweetness and the coconut butter was a great addition. 10/10!

Lunch

Youth + Beauty Salad w/ Lemon-Honey Dressing

I was nervous about this salad because it looked very raw, and I love salads but I wasn’t sure. I was wrong, this salad was phenomenal and the lemon honey dressing absolutely made it, Somehow the greens are so soft and it’s easy to eat them all! I’m not used o bigger lunches so this was a lot of food!

Dinner

Garden Shepard Bowl with Baby Watercress Salad

So comforting. Again this felt very fall especially the carrot and lentil mixture, reminded me of a healthy thanksgiving meal!

 

DAY THREE

Day three is when I noticed I was feeling less bloating and generally less sugar cravings.

Breakfast

Sakara Glow Granola w/ Pink Silk Mylk

All of the breakfasts so far have been great. It’s hard to pick a favorite but this is one of my favorite breakfasts from sakara! The pink mylk was gorgeous and made breakfast more fun. The granola was hearty and fruity, I liked the addition of mulberries because they are high in antioxidants! The flavors were so so so good.

Lunch

Rosemary Root Vegetable Bowl

I was not expecting to like this because I’m not a fan of beets but THE DRESSING. Somehow sakara magically transforms greens and raw vegetables into something ELSE. The dressings immediately make everything taste so good. I wasn’t even very hungry by lunch time today because the meals were SO filling but I ended up eating most of this because it was so good!

Dinner

Beautifying Broccoli Soup w/ Greens

THIS SOUP. I wasn’t expecting much when I took it out of the container. Once heated, it transformed into the most delicious comforting soup I have ever tasted. It was on the saltier side which I actually enjoy and everything about this was warming and delicious. The chile greens were a nice touch and fun to swirl in!

 

DAY FOUR

Still not hungry upon waking; actually felt like I could eat a bit less today because portion sizes had been very generous!

Breakfast

Sakara Avocado Toast w/ Pasilla ChileTomato Butter

The first and only savory breakfast! Did not disappoint; the “toast” was interesting and I decided to heat it up because it was a bit crumbly but once I put the spread and avocado on it the flavors created a masterpiece.

Lunch

Equinox Salad w/ Stone Fruit Tahini

Another lunch salad the size of my head! This one was fun because the spotlight ingredient was echinacea! I love echinacea for its immune boosting benefits and always used it as a remedy for colds and flus growing up! To have it in the salad was very cool! This tasted great and was extremely filling! I felt like I was eating the rainbow.

Dinner

Cacao Mole Enchilada

This meal is the reason I decided to order my 5 day plan on this particular week! I LOVE spanish food, and thissss was no exception. OMG you guys! The sauce on the enchilada has tamarindo in it and if you know…you KNOW that it is amazing beyond belief. Also how pretty is the pink sauce?! The corn dish was refreshing; I enjoyed this dinner a-lot and it really inspired me to get more creative in the kitchen!

 

DAY 5

I was sad to have the service end! I grew excited to find out what new and creative meal was next! I did however get fired up and go to the grocery store to shop for the week ahead. I bought a lot of great ingredients to keep the health going!

Breakfast

Gingerbread Protein Waffles

FAVORITE BREAKFAST ALERT! These waffles are everything. I think the grapes are cotton candy grapes as well and the berry compote is to die for. I wished this breakfast never ended. That is all.

Lunch

Mama Earth Bowl w/ Detox Dressing

I really couldn’t finish this salad; not because it wasn’t delicious…(because they hit a home run again with the detox dressing, a bit creamier than the others!) I couldn’t finish because sakara truly does not skimp on the food. I usually do not eat this much and I really felt nourished by the last day and had to relinquish 1/2 of this salad to my mom!

Dinner

Lasagna Bolognese

Great dish, filled with lentils and really did taste like lasagna! Extremely filling yet again but very worth every bite!


Sakara Life Honest Review, is it worth it?

First and foremost Sakara life is hands down the most creative meal delivery service I have tried! The flavors, wide range of ingredients and presentation is absolutely amazing. As someone who loves to cook, I truly finished the week inspired to get more creative in the kitchen!

Overall I had a great experience with Sakara; I was really expecting to not enjoy the taste of at least ONE meal. This didn’t happen. Even the salads were soft and easy to eat, the dressings made them flavorful and took away any bite that I usually expect from raw green salads. I almost wish I didn’t like one meal so that the review would seem more “believable” haha, however I truly enjoyed every single meal flavor wise and was extremely impressed.

When I began sakara I had just finished about 2 months of travel and was feeling a bit off of my routine. I used to do juice cleanses in the past when I felt this way, however now that I am much more active they don’t nourish me like they used to. I’m not a big fan of feeling hungry! Sakara was great because I did not feel hungry once during the 5 days and by about the 4th day, most of my sugar cravings had calmed down and I felt more balanced over all!

Going forward; would I order Sakara life again? Yes. I absolutely would. I think for my body type and how I like to eat I would order the 3 or 5 day sakara life dinners more regularly than the entire meal plan. This is because they give you A LOT of food. I usually graze during the middle of the day and truly do enjoy my smoothies in the morning however having a delicious plant based dinner ready to go every night would be great for my schedule and lifestyle! This is most likely how I would maintain Sakara if I were to not cook regularly! However I could absolutely see myself doing another 5 day plan or even trying the Detox in the future during seasonal changes or to get back on track! If you are someone who does not have time to cook or just need a bit of a reset then I would highly recommend giving Sakara Life a try! If you have trouble eating breakfast then I would HIGHLY recommend trying Sakara Life’s breakfasts because they are freaking amazing.

PROS:

The convenience - Having your meals already made and not having to worry about shopping or spending time cooking was great!

The variety - LOVED how unique and flavorful each meal was. The creativity is unparalleled.

The ingredients - Sakara is all organic and plant based. They truly use ingredients that heal you from the inside out; everything is organic, most meals are packed with ingredients that have antioxidants, metabolism support, digestive aid and beauty enhancing ingredients. You don’t have to worry about any funny business or weird fillers/additives!

The quantity - Sakara does not skimp on their portions. I feel like every meal keeps you full and I even had some leftovers. You feel extremely nourished. I know this is one of the more expensive meal services out there and they definitely deliver with the amount of food they give you.

CONS:

Price - The only con I truly see is the price. This is quite a pricey service. I do think you get what you pay for here as the quality & quantity of the meals is truly amazing. However this could be a barrier for some people to give Sakara Life a try! If you are interesting in giving it a go but need a little price break I will put my discount code below!

Conclusion

So there you have it! I have to say aside from the price I truly found Sakara life to be delightful. I would absolutely order again and am excited to continually work with them. I do believe that what they deliver is worth the cost, however I’m also aware it’s just not feasible for some people.
