LEMON. WATER. I was inspired by a very cute and summery skirt that I purchased and it just happened to have lemons all over it. Got me to thinking, I am always drinking lemon water so I should absolutely share the wealth on why I drink it all the time, what made me start and the benefits of such a simple drink. I am into anything REAL FOOD that helps me become the most healthy and radiant version of myself. I believe that food and movement can be great medicine if we learn what our bodies need and listen to how we feel.

Let’s get to it! I found myself on a lemon water kick after discovering Kimberly Snyder, a celebrity nutritionist and her book the Beauty Detox Solution many years ago. She was very pro warm lemon water in the morning so I decided to give it a try and see for myself. It is YEARS later and this is a habit that I find myself always going back to, it weaves in and out of my life but I always notice a big difference when I take the time to drink lemon water.

Beauty Tip: Lemons have an extra boost of Vitamin C and are also known to promote skin health. PLUS SIDE.

SO ideally, warm lemon water should be sipped first thing in the morning before any food is ingested. Lemon water helps to wake up the liver and stimulate stomach acid so that your metabolism gets going. Hot water also helps to break down food faster than cold water; when your digestion is simpler this frees up your bodies energy to move onto other things. Warm lemon water first thing in the AM will also hydrate you and might help to *move some things along…if you know what I mean*.

Now; sometimes I also like to sip room temp lemon water throughout the day, I usually carry my 40 OZ hydro flask around with me because…hydration is key. I love to squeeze some lemon in there and even leave the squeezed slices in the water to give it more flavor throughout the day. This gives my water a little bit more zing but it ALSO helps to reduce my bloating throughout the day. Lemons are a natural diuretic, which means they make you pee and help rid you of any extra water weight you may be carrying around. If you have a big day or a photoshoot coming up, this is a simple and healthy way to feel your best for your day!
